The Role:

As the first hire on our marketing team, you’ll be responsible for:
 
  • Making Intelligems synonymous with profit optimization.  Today’s ecommerce brands are familiar with A/B testing and "conversion rate optimization," but the vision for Intelligems is so much bigger. We need a chief storyteller who can bring his/her strategic guidance, creativity, and voice to Intelligems’ leadership team to create the category of profit optimization. 
  • Reimagining our demand gen strategy: We’re looking for someone who can build a scalable, integrated marketing strategy that leads with content and is constantly evaluating the most effective messaging and channels. Between our content, social, and event strategy, we have a lot to do in the coming years to drive top-of-funnel engagement and enable our sellers. The right candidate will focus on experimenting, iterating, and ensuring that marketing activities tie back to business results/outcomes.
  • Speaking to our customers and driving adoption: We have an incredibly powerful, complex tool. There are a ton of raw ingredients, but we need to inspire our customers for how to put them to most effective use. You'll be in charge of crafting our communication and product marketing plan with our customer (and partner) base in a way that educates and inspires them to get the most possible value from Intelligems
  • Building the infrastructure: It’s more than just the systems and tools, we want to have the right building blocks for scale in place from the early days. That means developing the right processes, KPIs/metrics, feedback loops, and operating cadence to consistently deliver against goals. There are many marketing activities being executed piecemeal across the team; we are excited to bring a new level of rigor, coordination, and analysis to our marketing efforts.
  • Leading the team: Marketing has been a collaborative endeavor across the entire leadership team, and company. We want you to take the best of what’s working and pull from the incredible team around the table to enable a small, but mighty (just you to start!) marketing team to succeed. We need someone who is comfortable building a bench of talent and supplementing the newly formed team with external agencies and contractors, while also rolling up their own sleeves at the start.
The ideal candidate
 
  • 6+ years of experience in product or demand gen marketing with at least 3+ years of experience in a B2B SaaS environment
  • You have strong opinions about how things should be done, but hold them loosely and adapt as you get new data
  • A collaborative mindset, with a passion and creativity for bringing a story to life across contexts, and a penchant for gathering insights from the rest of the organization
  • Exceptional writing, communication, and synthesis abilities - you can distill complex topics in engaging ways across channels
  • You're an empath who can quickly get in the mindset of our customers and speak their language with credibility
  • Familiarity with creating clear KPIs and measuring success of marketing through the funnel
  • Have worked closely with in-house creative partners, creative agencies and paid media agencies
  • Thrive in a self-starter, fast-paced and changing environment
  • Leadership capability to hire and develop a team
  • Knowledge of the Shopify ecosystem and ecommerce brand experience is a plus
