The Role:

We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our team as the Head of Merchant Success. You will be responsible for making sure that our customers - e-commerce merchants - get the maximum possible impact from Intelligems, shaping both the team and the product in the process. Reporting to the SVP of Sales & Success, you will oversee our current Merchant Success team, while working directly with a portfolio of high-value brands, helping them make the most of what Intelligems has to offer.

You will be responsible for:

  • Driving product adoption & education: We have an incredibly powerful, complex tool. There are a ton of raw ingredients, but we need to inspire our customers to put them to most effective use - most of them have never done “Profit Optimization” before. You'll be in charge of molding the strategies and recipes that drive this adoption - from tooling, to ops processes, to data insights, to product improvements - and help our customers grow their businesses through the use of Intelligems.
  • Boosting retention in key accounts: The merchant success team covers our most important and largest customer accounts. You’ll be responsible for achieving retention goals, and own on cross-functional projects that will support this (e.g., pricing and packaging for upsells)
  • Building team infrastructure: It’s more than just the systems and tools, we want to have the right building blocks for scale in place from the early days. That means optimizing the existing - and developing new - processes, KPIs/metrics, feedback loops, and operating cadences to consistently deliver against goals

The ideal candidate has:

  • 6+ years of experience in client-facing departments within consulting or the tech startup space, with at least 1+ years of direct management experience
  • Strong opinions about how things should be done, but hold them loosely and adapt as you get new data
  • Ability to switch between “deep data” mode (you love a pivot table and digging into a dataset for insights) and synthesis mode (you can tell a clear, concise story to internal and external stakeholders)
  • A collaborative mindset - you love working with others and can “influence without authority” to get things done across an org
  • You can build and measure your own KPIs, create a workplan, and hold yourself accountable
  • Directly owned the relationship with high-value, high-stakes clients
  • You have a bias to action, and are comfortable working in a fast-changing environment on ambiguous problems.
  • Leadership capabilities to hire and develop a best-in-class team
  • Knowledge of the Shopify ecosystem and ecommerce brand experience is a plus
